Bolero also tagged some good fish around the fads. Oct. 21st Donna Mclean and her husband Mark fishing on Ocean Blue had a day to remember.
Donna not only tagged her first blue, but added a second blue, a 300kg class fish which was also released, and finally a nice sailfish to bring her billfish total to 3 for the day.
The highlight of the month was the Grant Dixon (NZFN Editor) charter from
Oct. 27th though Nov.1st. Starting in Santo the party of Kiwi’s caught every species they targeted- GT’s, dogtooth tuna, yellow fin tuna, coral trout, wahoo, mahi mahi, sharks, blue marlin and sailfish; mixing up both light tackle and heavy chair gear. The jig fishing and live baiting for dog tooth was extremely exciting in the early morning hours on the seamounts.
The trip ended on a wonderful note with Paul boating a 318kg blue 2 hours out of Port Vila on the last day, starting the month of Nov. off with a bang! The big blue was caught on 50lb stand up tackle.
