Fishing Port Hinchinbrook
Situated halfway between Townsville and Cairns at the mainland township of Cardwell, “Port Hinchinbrook” is the gateway to the Hinchinbrook experience of untamed wilderness, superb beaches, deserted islands, coral reefs and what is without doubt, the best boating and fishing area in Australia.

We are offering a range of angling options from fishing the inshore light tackle grounds by day or extended live on board trips to the myriad of islands and productive grounds within the reef. For the real adventurous we're also offering long range expeditions to the remote Flinders and Marmydon Reefs located at the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef.

The Ultimate in Light Tackle Sportfishing
Port Hinchinbrook is the Barrier Reef's best kept secret. The fishing grounds off the Port offer a variety of light tackle Sportfishing options, targeting a range of Pacific gamefish that inhabit the baitfish rich Great Barrier Reef. Troll rigged baits or deep diving minnows for small black marlin, sailfish, wahoo, spanish mackerel, yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi, scaly mackerel and giant trevally. On light tackle, these opponents offer exceptional angling opportunities.

Port Hinchinbrook is also the ideal location where you could be catching barramundi in one of the numerous inshore creeks and rivers one day and targeting small black marlin and sailfish offshore the next. The beauty of this location is the variety of angling options open to you.

Flinders Reef
Located approximately 150 miles from Port Hinchinbrook lies the remote Flinders Reef. From December through to April we are offering extended expeditions to fish this spectacular location. During this time of year Flinders Reef is a anglers dream. Thick schools of large yellowfin tuna, wahoo and big blue marlin are the main targets.
