Whether you wish to fish heavy tackle, light tackle or prefer fly we are able to arrange a personalised fishing trip to suit your individual requirements.
The remote islands of Vanuatu provide spectacular heavy and light tackle fishing. Experiencing the untouched beauty and virgin fishing grounds is the dream of most travelling anglers. Fish in the lee of active volcanoes for dogtooth tuna, wahoo and yellowfin tuna. For marlin anglers chasing big blue marlin, this trip is highly recommended. Fish the lee shore of Pentecost and Maewo which produces excellent blue marlin fishing in calm water. After a long days fishing enjoy a well earned ale and meal watching the sun set at your overnight anchorage.
Visit locations such as the Marlin Highway, Erromango Sea Mounts, Nguna Volcano and Monument Rock. Vanuatu has built its reputation around its quality blue marlin fishing. For anglers targeting our large blues you can expect catches of three to four fish per day in season. Other target species include sailfish, yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi, wahoo, and dogtooth tuna. We will have you out fishing at dawn and back to port late in the afternoon for that well earned ale waiting for you at the magnificent Ocean Blue Anglers Retreat.
Vanuatu has a reputation for some superb light tackle sport fishing. Fishing aboard our centre console “Anto’s”, you will be taken to the many inshore reefs and offshore islands of North Efate. Cast your lure or fly for giant trevally, queenfish, coral trout, mangrove jack, green jobfish or troll along the fringing reefs for wahoo, mahi mahi and dogtooth tuna as well as targeting the schools of sailfish that frequent these inshore waters. Reef fishing is popular with poulet, snapper, deep sea bream, red barred snapper, green job fish and a host of other bottom dwelling species.
Giant Trevally or GT as they are most commonly known are abundant throughout Vanuatu's 83 islands. Fishing the currents and steep walls around most of these islands allow you a real shot at 40kg+ giant trevally. There is nothing more exhilarating than casting a popper into the GT's haunt and experiencing the ferocious explosion as a GT hammers your lure from beneath. Our live on board GT trips allow you the opportunity to fish remote locations throughout the islands known to hold big fish. Casting poppers and dropping jigs are the main techniques for GT's but are also effective for other species including dogtooth tuna, red bass and job fish. On this adventure you will fish aboard our Blackwatch 40 "Bolero" which is fully air-conditioned and is skippered by Remy Frouin who is one of the South Pacific's most respected captains. Superb meals are provided from seafood, fresh local vegetables to Vanuatu's world famous quality meats all prepared by Remy and his crew.
