Sandra Long and husband David, recently headed to Vanuatu for a 12 day/11 night live on board charter to the Banks Islands. An experienced angler, Sandra had loads of success catching sailfish, wahoo and dogtooth tuna on fly, including a pending IGFA record 20Kg dogtooth tuna.
Then we had Wendy Williams from New Zealand head over to Port Vila with her husband John. Also a seasoned angler, Wendy caught an estimated 250kg blue marlin on their 2 day live on board trip. Wendys success did not end here, she also tagged another 2 blues for her trip.
This impressive catch was shortly followed by Donna McLean who headed out on a day charter aboard Ocean Blue. Within the space of one day Donna not only managed to tag her first blue but quickly caught a second, a huge blue around the 300kg mark. Donna also ended her charter with an amazing tally of 3 billfish.
OceanBlue staffer Jenyne Boylan in Vanuatu on a working holiday had a great day on the water.
Within 2 hours Jenyne fought her first fiesty blue of around 70kg. After a 20 minute battle the fish was tagged and released.
It’s great to see an increasing number of ladies out on the water pitting their skills against Vanuatu's many pelagic's. We hope that this trend continues right through into 2006.
